Librarian Deb Cox-Johnson has announced storyteller Sarah’s Fall program dates and themes. This program is suggested for preschoolers and their families. Join us for stories, songs, rhymes and crafts.
All programs run from 6:15 to 7:00 PM.

Once again, the Friends of the Howard Lake Library invite everyone to get some great bargains on books and enjoy some tasty food. The sale will be held on Saturday, June 26th, from 9 AM to 1 PM, at the Howard Lake Community Center (above the library). Most regular sized paperback books are 25 cents , large paperbacks 50 cents and hardcovers are also 50 cents. Some coffee table books and special books will be marked separately. We will also be selling DVDs, audio books and jig saw puzzles. From 12:30 to 1 PM, fill one of our bags with books for only one dollar ($1)!! [Read more →]

GRRL presents the popular Minnesota Zoo wild animal presentation. Geared to ages 3 to 12, but all are invited. Presentation will be on Thursday, June 10 at 12:30 PM at the library building and will last approximately 45 minutes. This program will also be presented at other area libraries. Have you ever wanted to create your own cartoon or learn how to draw your own cartoon character? Come to the Howard Lake Library on Tuesday, March 16th, from 3:15 to 5:45, and learn what it take to be an illustrator & author of your own book. This workshop targets ages 12-18 and is limited to 20.

The Howard Lake Library presents a special New Years Eve family event on December 31st at 3 pm. Local performers Marienne Kreitlow and Jerry Ford weave together original and traditional music of the season with selected works of ‘the great and timeless poets’, including Robert Frost, Ogden Nash and Mary Oliver. Between them, they play numerous musical instruments - piano, psaltery, flute, Irish whistles, hand percussion - fronted by tight vocal harmonies.
